New centre of expertise for the future of food in Åhus!

Balsgård Foodtech have now taken the next steps in their development journey by investing in a new production facility for the future of food – in Åhus, Southern Sweden. The factory is 1500m2 and the company is offering extended services within product- and process development, pilot testing as well as co-packing.

We see a great need for our offer and services and this investment is spot on timewise – increased focus on short food supply chains, local processing capability and a enormous interest in new, innovative plant-based food and materials led us to this big investment, says Nils Mårtensson, company CEO. We saw an opportunity in the current market dynamics and have upcycled what used to be a padel-facility! Modern, new facilities and a blank slate where we could design our dream high-end factory.

We have spent the last years building a solid ground, in supporting innovators as well as scientists to implement their ideas, in supporting small- to mid-size companies with a flexible production and a wide range of machinery. We can see a large growth in non-alcoholic beverages, fermentation and plant-based proteins, amongst other things.
